Congratulations, you have successfully installed The GoPrint Solution!
Next Steps
If you are setting up a transaction server (GTX) ...
At this point an always-on service called GS Node Control is already running. This service runs even though no database has been configured yet. It's purpose is to manage all other GS services running on this computer.
As your next step you will want to select an existing database server to use, or install database software for the GS product to use.
PostgreSQL is the recommended database platform for any size installation. PostgreSQL for Windows is included on the official GS Installer, and is either included or only a few clicks away for Linux and Mac OS X servers. We recommend installing the database software on the same server as the GoPrint Transaction Server (GTX) unless you have a very high volume printing environments (> 10,000 jobs per day). The GTX is the only GS component that needs access to the database.
To create the GS database, access the GS Node Control web interface at https://127.0.0.1:7767. Your browser will prompt you to accept an SSL certificate, just answer OK or Accept to continue.
Click on the Configure Database link at the top, then enter your database connectivity information. Press the Create Database button to create a new database, or the Test Connection button to ensure that everything is working.
If you are upgrading from GS-3 you need to create a new database for GS. The GS-3 to GS upgrade process copies the database from a GS-3 database, rather than upgrading it in place.
Once you have a database connected or created, click on the Services link at the top of the GS Node Control interface. Click the Start button next to the GTX service. The first time starting it may take 30-60 seconds before you can log in.
Log in to the GS Control Center by visiting https://GTX-HOSTNAME:7770. The default is admin for both User ID and Password.
The first thing you will want to do is click on the 'Click Here to Register' link on the main page. Enter your customer name, serial number, and license key if you have one. Doing this can instantly unlock functionality that is not present in a default installation.
At this point you will be able to access the online help by clicking the Help button in the top right corner of any Control Center screen. You will find help content for all audiences, from How To's for integrating with LDAP and Active Directory, to information on firewall policies for the GS services, and much more.
You can remotely administer your GS system by logging into the Control Center with a web browser from another machine on your network. Use https://GoPrintServer:7770 for the URL, replacing GoPrintServer with your GTX server name.
If you are setting up a print server (Agent) ...
As long as you entered the correct GTX server name when the installer prompted you for it, everything should be up and running. If you need to change the server name you'll find it in a text file named goprint.cfg in the GS installation folder. All other settings are accessible via the GS Control Center.
Please refer to the online help in GS Control Center for instructions on adding printers and notes on how GS integrates with your operating system's print spooler.
If you are setting up a kiosk (ReleaseStation) ...
As long as you entered the correct GTX server name when the installer prompted you for it, everything should be ready to go. If you need to change the server name you'll find it in a text file named goprint.cfg in the GS installation folder. All other settings are accessible via the GS Control Center.
You were given an option during installation to "Install Station in Startup Group". If you marked this option a shortcut was created in the Startup folder on your Start menu. This applies only to the user profile that you are currently logged into, which means if you log out and back in as the same user, the Station will auto-start. You can hold down the Shift key to prevent the Startup group from being executed. If you will be using a different user ID for the station software to run, then you will need to either run the installer again under that user profile, or copy the shortcut from your user profile's Startup group to another user's Startup group.
If the kiosk is a Windows® workstation and you want to configure automatic login on reboot, run the Shell Options icon located in the Start / GoPrint menu. This utility lets you edit Windows' auto-logon registry settings to cause the workstation to automatically login with a specific username and password when the machine boots. If the kiosk is a Linux workstation then you need to configure automatic login based on the window manager that you are using.
